Caution Tape Tie (Elders)
Caution Tape Earrings (Sisters)
Caution Duck Tape Wallet or Bag
Mini Caution Sign to put in their Missionary apartments

Again I have a caution and a promise. The caution is that sorrow will come from failure either to love or to bear witness. If we fail to feel and show honest concern for those we approach with the gospel, they will reasonably distrust our message. But if out of fear of rejection we fail to tell them what the gospel has meant in our lives and could mean in theirs, we will someday share their sorrow. Conference Talk October 1996: Witnesses for God by Henry B. Eyring of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Warn, Warning
To give notice or caution. Prophets, leaders, and parents warn and teach others to be obedient to the Lord and his teachings.
Jacob warned the people of Nephi against every kind of sin: Jacob 3:12;
The voice of warning is to all people: D&C 1:4;
Let your preaching be the warning voice: D&C 38:41;
This is a day of warning: D&C 63:58;
Every man who has been warned should warn his neighbor: D&C 88:81;
I have warned you, and forewarn you, by giving you this word of wisdom: D&C 89:4;

God always provides safety for the soul, and with the Book of Mormon, He has again done that in our time. Conference Talk October 2009: Safety for the Soul by Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

Words of a prophet: Keep the commandments.
In this there is safety and peace.

The patterns and truths found in the Book of Mormon are clear and instructive, plain and precious. When we begin with righteousness and obedience, we will end with blessings and joy. We take what we think are the tools of spiritual transformation into out own hands and try to sculpt ourselves into robust Christ like specimens. But spiritual transformation is primarily the work of the Holy Spirit. He is the Master Sculptor.

If you could peek inside the devil’s toolbox, you’d see precision instruments for leading people astray, as well as a few well-worn tools that are obviously among his go-to gear. LDS.org Youth Article: We Need Christ’s Church by David A. Edwards – Church Magazines

Friend June 2002: Dad’s Toolbox Printable by Shauna Mooney Kawasaki

– Consider the Fruit of the Spirit like a Toolbox –

Inside are tools for every situation. You wouldn’t use a hammer to do the job of a screwdriver, nor would you attempt to saw a board with a wrench. Likewise, when you enter into challenging relationships and situations, choose the part of the fruit that is most effective for that difficulty. To do so, you will need to learn the ‘Fruit’ and practice it. Only then will you become proficient in its application.
As we take Christ’s name upon us, it is expected that we strive to emulate His attributes and change our character to become more like Him each day. The Savior, admonishing His disciples, said, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” If we “come unto Christ, … deny [ourselves] of all ungodliness; … and love God,” then through Christ’s grace the day will come when we may be perfect in Him.
“Christlike attributes are gifts from God. [These attributes] come as [we] use [our] agency righteously. …With a desire to please God, [we have to] recognize [our] weaknesses and be willing and anxious to improve.”
Galations 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

As you study the ‘Fruits of the Spirit’ you will develop your own working definitions for each part. You could try making a list of the various relationships you encounter and prayerfully consider which tool best suits the challenge in that relationship. For example, perhaps you need patience or mercy with your companion, and love for those you teach. Keep those ideas in the forefront of your mind as you engage in that particular relational challenge. If someone is disrespectful, ask yourself how you can best demonstrate patience in this context. Now depend upon the Holy Ghost’s leading to enable you to do so. Love is a sacrificial choice (1 John 3:16) of words accompanied by actions (1 John 3:18) regardless of attraction or response (Romans 5:8) generated by God not by oneself (John 21:15-18). Joy is a pre-determined attitude (Philippians 4:4) of praise for God’s goodness (Psalms 5:11) by maintaining an eternal focus (Psalms 16:11) in the midst of difficulty (Hebrews 12:2). Peace is a settled confidence of mind (Philippians 4:7) from a right relationship with God (Philippians 4:9) unaffected by circumstantial change (4:11). Patience is a learned attitude (Colossians 1:11) revealed through a joyful willingness (James 1:2) to remain under difficulty (James 1:3-4) in order to learn God’s lessons (James 5:11). Kindness is a tender spirit purposefully expressed (Romans 2:4) sacrificially given (Ephesians 2:7), especially to the undeserving (Titus 3:4). Goodness is focused resolve (2 Thessalonians 1:11) that drives us to become actively involved in the life of another (2 Chronicles 24:16), consistently expressed through generosity (Nehemiah 9:25). Faithfulness is a promise (Romans 3:3; Lamentations 3:23) to keep one’s word and do one’s best (1 Thessalonians 1:3) with a servant–attitude focused on the Master’s approval (Matthew 25:21). Gentleness is an attitude of humility (James 1:21) stirred by grateful spirit (Numbers 12:3; Ps. 90:15) revealed in a tenderness to others (Ephesians 4:2) sustained by a growing trust in God (Matthew 5:5). Self-control is the growing realization that one’s desire to please self was crucified with Christ and replaced with a desire to glorify God (Galations 2:20).

Urim and Thummim: An ancient instrument or tool prepared by God and used by Joseph Smith to aid in the translation of the Book of Mormon. God provided a Urim and Thummim to His prophets in ancient times (see Exodus 28:30; 1 Samuel 28:6; Ezra 2:63).
Alma 29:9 You have unique testimony or tools that may be able to touch someone’s soul that others can’t.

Our Spiritual Tool Belt
On this journey we must travel wisely
Keeping our lanterns lit and clean
Watching our steps as we walk each day
For some things are not the way they seem

There are paths that’s full of craftiness
And sometimes deceit plays a part
It comes in the good as well as the bad
That tries to enter into one’s heart

But, then we have that spiritual bag
Filled up with Spiritual advice
So when we need it just pull it out
For every word of God is nice

Whenever hate and jealousy rear its head
We have, the gift of love, to intervene
And when malice and strife wants to pop up
Forgiveness and mercy will surely redeem

No carnal weapons are in this bag
And no damaging devices will be found
Just peace and joy that will pick you up
When troubles try to get you down

This bag of goodies hold a many of treats
That will offset the wars within
Plus it covers everything that we encounter
To help bring them all to an end

So whenever you need an uplift
Look into the word that’s fully stacked
Bagged with what is needed on this journey
And believe me it is truly stacked

For Safety Glasses I included a jump rope made into the Shape of Safety Glasses. This will help you to keep your body strong as you exercise your physical body throughout your mission. I also included a picture that is called ‘Ascent’. I love this picture because as you look at it you see the people ascending the rocks and you see them helping each other up the rocks as they climb out of the darkness of the world into the light of truth. I know that there are many people blessing your life each day on a Mission. I know as you grow and progress with your testimony that you will be able to see things more clearly. I know the angels are with you and are protecting you each day.
You are so loved!

Linn explained, ‘We help one another climb upward out of the darkness of the world into the light of truth.’

Eye, Eyes – The Guide to the Scriptures – In the scriptures, the eye is often used as a symbol of a person’s ability to receive the light of God. Symbolically, a person’s eye also shows spiritual condition and an understanding of the things of God.

Temporal First Aid and Spiritual First Aid
I have include a small First Aid kit for your Temporal First Aid and for your Spiritual First Aid I have include a postcard titled ‘Called to Serve’ by Don O. Christensen. I love this picture of two young missionaries preparing themselves to teach the gospel. While one ties his tie, the image in the mirror reveals him putting on the Armor of God, a metaphor of the importance of being both physically and spiritually prepared. You will also notice Christ watching as a reminder of His constant companionship.

Called to Serve by Don O. Christensen

I also include a fiery dart object lesson. The Armor of God can protect you and provide First Aid for the Soul.

“We have the responsibility to stand strong with a shield of faith against the fiery darts of the adversary. We are role models to the world, protecting God-given, inalienable rights and freedoms. We stand in defense of our homes and our families. How will you resist (Satan’s) aggressive tactics? Put on the Whole Armor of God.”

5 And again the third time they did hear the voice, and did open their ears to hear it; and their eyes were towards the sound thereof; and they did look steadfastly towards heaven, from whence the sound came.”- 3 Nephi 11:3-5

Primary 3 Lesson:Commandment Road Signs – The Commandments Help us Choose the Right

Your Eternal Road Trip
As you travel the road of life, watch for the signs that will help you live righteously amid pressures.

‘Stop’ dressing immodestly. When you are dressed modestly you invite the companionship of the spirit. Never lower your standards for any occasion or reason!!!

Always ‘keep right’ thoughts and good language. Foul language harms your spirit and degrades you. Choose friends that don’t do this and help others to stop.

Doing drugs and alcohol is always the ‘wrong way’. Never use tobacco in any way and remember that any form of alcohol is harmful to your body and spirit. Alcohol also weakens your judgment and can cause you to do things you’ll later regret.

Be sure that ‘you turn’ and run away from any situation where the spirit can’t dwell.
In spite of worldly pressures and trying circumstances you can choose to live righteously, knowing that Heavenly Father will always be there to sustain and bless you.

‘Do not enter’ into temptation. Satan may try and tempt you to rationalize sexual intimacy before marriage, but you have been given clear guidelines that will help and protect you: -no passionate kissing -stay in safe areas -no lying down -no touching private sacred parts of the body with or without clothing.

‘Yield’ to the spirit. Make sure that you are doing the things that will allow you to have the Lord’s spirit with you. As you exercise self discipline you will strengthen your spirit’s control over your body. Your ability to control your thoughts and actions will increase each time you make a right choice.

Your future happiness is ‘under construction’. Decide what you want to become and set goals to help you succeed. Remember that you are trying to become temple worthy daughters of our Heavenly Father, future missionaries, college students, and mothers.

You Can Live Righteously in an Unrighteous World
“She was the only member of the Church in her class in school. She was a popular young lady with the boys, and had many opportunities to go out on dates. The boys in her class did not live by the standards she had been taught in our Church. She made the decision to tell every boy who asked her for a date what standards she lived by. If she were to date them, they would be expected to conduct themselves in accordance with her standards. She would get such a commitment from them before she accepted a date. One day the big campus football hero came up to her before the most special dance of the year and said, ‘You know, I would ask you to go to the dance with me if you would lower your standards just a little.’

“There was no hesitation in her voice as she replied, ‘If I would go out with you, I would be lowering my standards.’ Be strong enough to make your decisions not to follow worldly ways.”

23. Safety Instructions
Print-Out of Missionary Safety Instructions – (This list is included in the MBM kit.)

Safety tips for LDS missionaries

1) Obey the missionary handbook.
2) Obey your mission president. Your Mission President may be inspired to give you specific safety guidelines.
3) Avoid dark pathways at night.
4) Stay with your companion at all times. This is essential and will protect you physically and spiritually.
5) Ask ward members to accompany you. People are less likely to give you problems when a member is with you.
6) Lock your apartment doors.
7) Change the paths you travel each day. This makes it harder for strangers to predict where you will be at any given moment.
8) Don’t give out your address to people on the street or online. Really, there’s no reason for anyone but your mission and your ward members to know exactly where you live.
9) Don’t fearfully avoid groups of delinquents. Gangs feed off of fear – if you act calm while near them, they may be less likely to bother you.
10) Consider forming positive acquaintances with gang members. You’ll have to use your judgment and the Spirit on this one, but sometimes it may be beneficial to go up to gang members and meet them. If you can form a positive acquaintance with them, they may be less likely to rob you, etc. They may even protect you from other delinquents.
11) Listen to and follow the Spirit. This is the most important safety tip you can follow. If the Spirit tells you to avoid a street, avoid it. If the Spirit tells you not to enter a home that invites you in, don’t enter. Even if you don’t know the reason for the prompting or it doesn’t seem to make sense to you, follow it.
12) Walk with determination. It’s harder to bother missionaries who are moving at a good pace. It may be wise to foresee oncoming dangerous individuals and cross the street and walk quickly (without acting too unnatural or frightened).
13) Avoid dangerous areas. When you arrive to a new area, your missionary companion and ward members will likely know what parts of town are dangerous and in general are good to avoid. Your area book may also have some guidelines as to where to avoid.
14) Be back to your apartment on-time as per your missions rules.
15) Practice expanding your safety vocabulary. Consider learning to recognize a few words relating to safety and crime, including: help, fire, stop, come, gun, knife, rob, steal, kill, fight, rape, run, gang, etc.
16) Get to know ward members in areas you visit. This way ward members will be more likely to keep an eye out for you and you’ll feel comfortable going to their homes if you ever need to leave a dangerous situation on the streets. Your friends can become a sort of on-call help.
17) Keep valuables in the apartment or out of sight. Wearing a backpack, a watch or carrying a cell phone on the streets can attract people who want to steal. If you need to carry a valuable in public you may want to hide it somehow.
18) Have some spare cash to give. Having a small amount of money on hand to give someone if they tried to rob you might be good. Once they get what they want, the robber may be more likely to leave you alone.
19) Don’t resist being robbed. Things are just not worth your safety.
20) Learn how to whistle with your fingers. Learning to make a loud whistle by making a “V” with your fingers may be useful on your mission and after to signal to others if you are lost or in danger. The loud whistle will likely travel farther than a yell.21) Do regular exercise. Having good cardio will help you to run from danger if necessary. Having more strength will give you an increased ability to defend yourself and your companion if it were ever necessary.
22) Don’t react to barking dogs. In the case of joggers, runners, bikers, etc., it’s because the motion of the person triggers their prey drive.
23) Be careful with gas heaters and stoves.
24) Avoid heated conversations in person and online. Almost all physical violence is preceded by argument.
25) Look up crime reports for your mission. If you serve a mission in the United States, you will be able to look up crime reports for areas of your mission. By looking at several cities’ crime reports you will begin to see some patterns of crime in your mission. Perhaps knowledge of crime patterns in your mission will help you to recognize potential dangers in your areas.
26) If you have a bike, watch out for vehicles!
27) Wear a helmet while cycling or a seat belt while driving.
28) Don’t visit someone you feel you shouldn’t.
29) Avoid wearing a backpack in public. Backpacks tend to be a magnet for thieves.
30) Wear comfortable walking shoes. wearing comfortable walking shoes will make it easier to run away from a dangerous situation if the time should ever arise. It’s almost always safer to run from a dangerous situation than to confront one.
31) If possible find an apartment with a bolt-lock.
32) Carry a charged cell phone, on vibrate mode. If you are allowed to use a cell phone you might want to make sure it’s charged before leaving in the morning. If you are ever concerned about your safety you may want to call someone in your ward or district. Ward members will be happy to give you a ride home at night, if you ask them. Also, in some parts of the world people may be less likely to bother you if you are talking on the cell phone with someone, because they don’t want other people to know about crimes they would commit. It may be wise to carry your cell phone on vibrate mode so that you can still tell when someone has called but yet not attract undue attention in public when someone calls.
33) Don’t wear immodest clothing. Tight or revealing clothing can draw undue attention from the wrong crowd. This is especially so for sister missionaries. The more modestly you dress the more likely you will not have evil-minded individuals entertaining inappropriate thoughts and bothering you. When in doubt, be more modest in your dress.
34) Don’t scare or intimidate others. Never try to intentionally scare or intimidate someone. When you do scare someone you risk having that person make a violent reaction.
35) Don’t walk into the middle of a dangerous situation.
36) Start knocking at the top of the stairwell. If you will be knocking doors at apartment buildings, make it a habit to start knocking from the top, down. The reasoning behind this is that if someone were to decide to do something violent to you, you would be more able to run down the stairwell away from the danger. If you start at the bottom and hallway up the stairwell someone from beneath you decides to chase you up the stairwell, it’s not nearly as easy to escape.
37) Learn your area extremely well. If you learn your area well it will help you be more easily directed by the Spirit and also you will be less likely to get lost. The more you can familiarize yourself with your surroundings the more you will be able to recognize danger and the more easily you will be able to find a path to avoid it. If may also be useful to learn what dangerous animals or insects frequent your area.
